One of the most celebrated heirloom grains in American food history, grown and milled right here in South Carolina. Carolina Gold Rice from Marsh Hen Mill is a long-grain heirloom rice first cultivated in Charleston in the late 1600s, grown on Edisto Island, and stone milled using restored antique equipment that preserves the natural oils, aromas, and flavor of the grain.

Named for the beautiful golden hue of the rice plants in the field, Carolina Gold is prized for its delicate almond and floral aroma, light and slightly sticky texture, and a unique starch structure that makes it cook differently from commercial long-grain rice. This is the rice that built the South Carolina Lowcountry economy and fed the Gullah-Geechee community for generations. Now it's back, grown where it belongs, by Marsh Hen Mill on Edisto Island.
