OUR HISTORY

Established in 2011 as a farmers market-based business, Lowcountry Olive Oil is a locally owned specialty food retailer rooted in South Carolina’s coastal culture, offering a curated selection of premium olive oils and balsamic vinegars from around the world. With brick-and-mortar locations in the Lowcountry, we focus on creating a welcoming, educational tasting experience that helps customers discover how simple, high-quality ingredients can elevate everyday cooking. Whether its salads, Mediterranean and Italian classics, or fresh bread and home favorites, we’re passionate about helping our community cook with confidence, flavor, and a true sense of place.

Lowcountry Olive Oil was founded and operated by the Benjamin family until 2025. The Benjamins believed in supporting local food artisans and regional family-owned olive farms including Georgia Olive Orchards and Olinda Olive Oil. Lowcountry Olive Oil stores also carry Charleston's Holy Smoke smoked olive oil, Georgia Pecan and Green Peanut oils, Marsh Hen Grits, Bulls Bay Sea Salts, dipping spices from Charleston Spice Company, Charleston Candle Company, Edisto Gold Honey, and may other specialty grocery items from the Charleston area. Lowcountry Olive Oil was purchased in 2025 by Trey Hall and McKendrick Dunn, owners of Southeast Specialty Foods. Together, Trey and McKendrick continue the legacy started by the Benjamins, hand crafting and bottling high quality olive oils and balsamic vinegars right in our downtown Charleston store.
